Active Consultations

At UCW, policy development is an inclusive process, with an appropriate and proportionate level of input from relevant members of the University community, especially those who may be directly affected by the policy.

When considering proposed policies and procedures (and revisions to existing policy documents), you are asked to consider the following principles:

1. Clarity – the purpose of the policy document is clear (and exclusions are clearly delineated) and it is appropriately addressed to the likely audience.

2. Consistency – all UCW policies must abide by the principles outlines in Policy 1505 and there should not be any overlap in issues covered with any other policy.

3. Functionality – all implications of proposed policies are carefully considered, and risks/operational/regulatory requirements are clearly outlined.

4. Accessibility – policy documents are not only readily available, but updates are also broadly communicated to the community and narrowly shared with groups most impacted by the changes.

The UCW Community is invited to comment on the following policy proposal(s):

Feedback received by the UCW Policy Office from the UCW community will be provided to the relevant policy leads for review and consideration. Individual responses will not be provided to those submitting feedback, but all feedback will be summarized, anonymized, and provided to the relevant Approving Authority (Board of Governors, Senate, President).

This consultation period for the following policies is now closed. Thank you to all UCW community members who provided feedback. Comments received will be considered by the policy lead(s).

Suggested Policies

From time to time, members of the UCW community recommend that the institution adopt a particular Policy or Procedure. This may be necessary to respond to an emerging legislative requirement, address an operational need, or align the University’s practices with similar institutions in British Columbia and Canada.

If you have consulted the UCW Policy Repository and believe that UCW could benefit from instituting a particular policy, please contact the Policy Office at [email protected].
