Lisa Collins has joined University Canada West in the newly created position of Vice President, Student Experience, effective May 2024.
Lisa will provide strategic leadership, direction and oversight for all aspects related to student life and the overall student experience within University Canada West.
Reporting to the President and Vice-Chancellor and working closely with the executive and senior leadership team, this position is pivotal in creating a positive and supportive environment that fosters students’ personal growth, academic progression and overall well-being.
A passionate advocate and collaborative champion for students, Lisa shares UCW’s vision for creating a vibrant and inclusive campus community where students can thrive academically, socially and personally.
Lisa brings nearly three decades of progressively senior leadership experience in top Canadian post-secondary institutions, with strong emphases on support for student success and the creation of exceptional student experiences. Lisa joins UCW from the BC Institute of Technology (BCIT), where she was appointed Vice President, Students in 2018. Lisa currently serves on the BC Council for Admission and Transfer, as well as the EducationPlannerBC Steering Committee.
Lisa’s many career accomplishments include the successful implementation of a student-centric institutional strategic plan at BCIT, the creation of a national student recruitment strategy for the University of Alberta and the design and launch of a unique “concierge” student service delivery model at the University of British Columbia.
Lisa holds a Master of Library & Information Studies from the University of British Columbia, a Bachelor of Arts from York University and a Certificate in College & University Administration from the University of Manitoba. Lisa has also completed the Management & Leadership in Education program through Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education.
