Rochelle Prasad, a dedicated advocate for education rights, founder of SPARK Foundation, and sessional faculty member at University Canada West, has been named one of Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 for 2024 by the Women’s Executive Network (WXN).
She joins the list of other influential women recognized for their leadership and transformative impact on Canada’s future.
At UCW, Prasad teaches political science and social justice, furthering her commitment to fostering informed, socially conscious leaders. Beyond her academic role, she founded SPARK Foundation in high school to empower youth through education. Under her guidance, the organization has supported more than half a million young people worldwide with life skills workshops, leadership camps and scholarships aimed at breaking barriers to higher learning. This recognition highlights her commitment to youth empowerment and leadership and significant contributions to education policy both in Canada and globally.
As an advocate for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Prasad’s work includes advising global organizations, lecturing on political science and social justice, and working with youth networks to inspire future leaders. Her achievements have earned her accolades, such as the 2023 Young Leader of the Year award from the World Federation of UN Associations and a nomination for the Diana Award.
The 2024 Top 100 winners will be honoured on November 27 at the 22nd annual Top 100 Awards Gala at Toronto’s Fairmont Royal York. The event will feature a fireside chat with journalist Lisa LaFlamme and CTV’s Andrea Bain, celebrating influential figures across various industries.
