British Columbia’s latest round of COVID-19 restrictions went into effect today.
With the recent surge in cases, the BC’s Provincial Health Officer (PHO) introduced several new restrictions that will be in effect until January 31.
The restrictions include:
- Indoor personal gatherings are limited to a household plus 10 visitors, or one other household. And everyone aged 12 and up must be fully vaccinated.
- Indoor organized events require proof of being fully vaccinated to attend and masks are mandatory for all attendees.
- Large indoor events can have up to 1,000 people, or 50% capacity, whichever is greater.
- In restaurants and pubs, customers must remain seated and cannot move between or visit other tables. Masks are required when not seated at a table.
- All sports tournaments and related travel are prohibited.
- New Year’s Eve parties are not allowed. Any events held on December 31 must be seated. Standing, mingling and dancing are not permitted.
The PHO also strongly recommends that everyone:
- Keep gatherings small and only with those who you know are fully vaccinated.
- Outdoor gatherings are safer than indoor.
- Reduce social interactions.
- Ensure proper ventilation indoors by opening windows.
- Avoid all travel if you’re not fully vaccinated.
- Follow the current federal travel advisory.
- Stay home if you feel sick.
