The University is committed to academic governance that incorporates formal and structured input from faculty, staff, and students related to program and institute-wide academic decisions. Academic Council's primary focus is the academic quality of all new and existing programs.
Academic Council is the senior academic body of the university. Among other things, it advises on university academic standards, academic policies, and program approval and review. While business decisions are made by the President in consultation with the Board, the determination that a program meets the academic requirements and standards of the University is that of the Academic Council.
