Carla Furlong, BA in Arts & Sciences (Toronto) and MBA, Marketing and Finance (Calgary), has an extensive track record in teaching, including York University in Toronto, and the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, plus senior management level experience in a wide range of business disciplines, including financial services, resources and biomedical.
Carla’s areas of expertise are Marketing and Communications, particularly from a strategic and digital perspective. Her highly interactive classes stress both the conceptual and the practical, and incorporate exercises to enhance those skills sought most often by today’s employers – critical thinking and communications. Her course material also highlights the newest trends in business such as the ability to manage and communicate data as in data storytelling.
She has published two books – Marketing Money on the marketing of financial services and Marketing for Keeps on customer retention – as well as more than 40 articles in UK, US and Canadian periodicals such as Canadian Business and the International Journal of Bank Marketing. Carla is also a strong oral communicator with presentations across North and South America, including several on a Caribbean cruise ship.
