Carol Koop’s educational philosophy centers on engaging students in active learning and encouraging students to find their individual voices. Her goal is to develop each student’s critical thinking abilities, and to hone skills that will allow for individual student success. Carol’s research interests lie in the elucidation of social and cultural history from personal narratives.
Carol earned her BA (summa cum laude) and MA in English and History from Texas Tech University. She later obtained a Professional Teacher’s Certification at Wayne State University, and helped to develop innovative educational programs for inner city Detroit students as well as for adult and English as a Second Language learners. Carol has also worked as a writing coach, an editor, and an English instructor.
