Dr. Service Opare taught various undergraduate courses at the University of Calgary and currently teaches Physical Geography at University Canada West. His interests lie in the exploration of bio-gas production and other climate-change mitigation options.

Dr. Opare worked with Ghana's Department of Community Development and rose to the position of Assistant Director before joining The Hunger Project- Ghana; the Ghana branch of a US-based NGO, as its program coordinator. During this period, he spearheaded implementation of environment-related projects funded by UNDP, UNICEF, DANIDA and other reputable international agencies.

Dr. Opare completed his PhD in Geography (Environment and Development specialization) at The University of Calgary. Prior to his doctoral study, he pursued various courses at The University of Ghana, The University of Oslo and Erasmus University's International Institute of Social Studies at The Hague.
