Dr. Summer Pervez obtained her BA and MA from the University of Western Ontario and her PhD from the University of Ottawa.
She has been teaching in universities in Canada and Pakistan since 2002 as specialist in World Literature and Film, with an emphasis on the South Asian British and Canadian diasporas, and has published a range of articles on world literature, film, and music.
After studying filmmaking at the Vancouver Film School in Canada in 2013, Dr. Pervez made several short narrative films, which are currently circulating in festivals worldwide. She recently moved back to Vancouver from Lahore, where she was an Associate Professor of English and Media Studies, Art & Design in the School of Business at the Lahore School of Economics.
Along with teaching and researching, she is also a filmmaker, photographer and activist for minority rights. She is currently working some upcoming short and feature-length film projects.
