Support for UCW Researchers

UCW, through the Vice President, Academic and specialized units including the Office of Research and Scholarship, offers a range of financial, collaboration, administrative, advice and capacity-building supports to faculty to help advance their scholarly goals and responsibilities.

The Office of Research and Scholarship is primary service unit supporting faculty scholarly activity. ORS builds the UCW scholarly community, culture, and profile through involvement in various stages and at various levels of scholarship. We consult with researchers to help develop research proposals and facilitate knowledge mobilization. We administer and support research funding opportunities. We establish and support policies, services and infrastructure to build and grow the UCW research enterprise. We are committed to providing thoughtful, timely and efficient support for UCW researchers.

Financial supports include grant opportunities within UCW for research related to disciplinary discovery, teaching innovation, or engaging students or community partners, as well as grants for knowledge mobilization activities (e.g. presenting at conferences and hosting workshops) and open access publishing. Additional financial supports are available for faculty to hire from a pool of student research assistants available to assist with research projects. Supports for collaboration involve creating opportunities for faculty members to learn about each other’s research interests, network, and become involved in academic associations. Capacity-building supports relate to our services in honing research skills in the UCW community, including one-on-one consulting on research ideas/proposals, workshops on research software and methods, research ethics coordination, and more.
