Dazzling Light Displays

VanDusen Festival of Lights

Step into a wonderland at VanDusen Botanical Garden, where more than one million Christmas lights transform the garden into a shimmering holiday haven. Themed displays, delicious treats, unique light features and holiday music create a magical experience, which is perfect for photo opportunities. The festival runs until January 5, and tickets are available at vandusen.org.

Capilano Suspension Bridge Park

Suspended high above the Capilano River, this iconic attraction shines with thousands of fairy lights. The “Canyon Lights” display extends to the surrounding trees, creating a breathtaking spectacle. Highlights include a walk-through light tunnel, the world’s tallest Christmas trees—twinkling Douglas firs—and live seasonal music. The event is open until January 19, with tickets available on the Capilano Canyon Lights website.

Lights at Lafarge

Lights at Lafarge, Metro Vancouver’s largest free outdoor winter lights display, takes place at Town Centre Park in Coquitlam. Running until the end of February 2025, the exhibit features a 1.2-km pathway with enhanced lighting and reimagined elements. The lights are on daily from 4 to 10 pm, with weekday and off-peak visits (before 6 pm or after 8 pm) recommended for the best experience. The Lafarge Lake–Douglas rapid transit station is close by, so it’s easily accessible via Skytrain.

Shipyards Christmas Market & Skating

Take the SeaBus to The Shipyards in North Vancouver, where sparkling lights, 70 charming wooden stalls, and festive activities create a magical atmosphere. Browse unique artisanal gifts, meet Santa, enjoy live holiday music and skate on the free rink. Delight in seasonal treats like bratwursts, mulled wine and hot cocoa, with vendors showcasing the best of European cuisine. The festivities run to December 24 on select days at 125 Victory Ship Way.

Noel Holiday Light Festival & Market

This winter, the Noel Holiday Light Festival & Market is transforming Surrey’s Cloverdale Fairgrounds into a dazzling wonderland, debuting as the season’

s must-visit event. Featuring over a million sparkling lights, family-friendly activities, and endless entertainment, it promises a magical holiday

experience. The festival runs from November 28 to December 10 at the Cloverdale Agriplex, 17798 62 Avenue, Surrey. Admission is $20.

Festivities Close to UCW’s West Pender Campus

Christmas at Canada Place

A short walk from the University Canada West’s West Pender Campus, Canada Place offers a nostalgic and family-friendly experience. Admire the Christmas windows from the old Woodward’s department store, featuring old-time Christmas scenes and vintage animatronic figures, a 15-foot “Chrismoose,” the Avenue of Trees and the iconic Sails of Light. This free event runs until January 1.
