Nothing is more important than a comfortable place to study in maximum concentration to be productive.
Hey guys!
It’s Fabiana CB.
In this blog, I would like to share with you why studying in a healthy environment increases your productivity and concentration as well as some of my favourite study spots at UCW and some tips that I know will be very helpful.
I believe that a healthy study space is a game changer; you will never be able to concentrate or get inspired if your space is dirty, has no good lighting, or is messy. Researchers have found that an impeccable, clear study place reduces in 100% fewer distractions and help students boost concentration on what they are doing; therefore, students can study efficiently and free from distractions and perform better.
Your task is to find the best study spot, or why not several! That motivates you to be super productive.
I always did my homework at home, I felt it was comfortable. I didn’t have to go anywhere else and I concentrated pretty well. However, after a while, I felt the need to look for another routine and places because I felt staying home was too monotonous, I didn’t concentrate anymore, I got bored quickly and I didn’t get inspired.
I felt it was time to give the University campuses a chance; I explored them and want to tell you my top study places so you can go there too.
My favourite spots
Vancouver House Campus
West Building – Fourth floor
I love this floor because it is quiet and relaxing.
- If you want more privacy and silence for your meetings and to do your homework, the meeting pods are an excellent option for you; there are two of these.
- If you want to study with your classmates or friends, three study pods are waiting for you; these are bigger and not private.
- If you didn’t bring your laptop/iPad and have to study or do homework, plus have a great view of the city, you can go to the computer labs.
West Building – Fifth floor
- My favourite place to study is the Learning Commons room (Next Gen Hub). It is a big place with a lot of tables designed for students to study and read. While studying, you can admire the buildings around you, or if you want fresh air, you can go to the terrace, where there are some tables as well.
East Building – Fourth floor
- It is less crowded and designed for studying and doing homework
- There are two meeting pods and one study pod; depending on your agenda, you can choose whether you want more privacy.
East Building – Fifth floor
- My favourite study place, the Learning Commons room, and the beautiful Library, with computers and exciting books. If you are like me that love studying and watching the buildings and the city in general, then go to the Library’s second floor, it’s a little bit more private and smaller so you can get to concentrate more.
Tips from an International student
As I told you in the beginning, I used to do my assignments at home in my room, and it worked well for a long time, but suddenly it didn’t work anymore. If you are going through the same thing, this might help you.
- Go to new places to study.
- Know yourself; in that way, you will see what you like and what you don’t.
- Try another routine.
- Take advantage of the campuses; they are well-designed for students to study.
Thanks for getting here, guys
