Greetings, hard-working students!
Today I would like to call attention to one of the most important aspects of mental health: coping with stress. As you most likely know, university students are prone to experiencing stress throughout their journey. The workload of assignments and exams, along with working part-time, engaging in volunteer activities AND having a social life are not easy tasks to operate! This is why University Canada West ensures every student has access to proper resources to help cope with stress.
One of the resources the University offers is Guard Me Student Support Program. This is an accessible support app that allows students to speak with a counsellor 24/7. The service is included in the student fees and is mandatory. Hence, you, as a UCW student, should be taking advantage of this wonderful support. You can quickly contact a counsellor through the app, website or phone and talk about anything you may be going through. This is the University’s central resource for students tackling mental health concerns.
Not only that, but the University is continually hosting workshops and events throughout the term about stress management techniques. You can always check the events schedule in the MyUCW Student Portal to see if any are available for the upcoming week. The University also hosts Health & Safety Awareness Week every year, with various workshops and events on an array of health topics.
Now that you know what UCW does to help students cope with stress, you can stay updated with University announcements to keep up with the events. And of course, don’t forget to talk to a counsellor on the Guard Me Student Support Program app for support if you need it! I hope I broadened your perspective on managing stress in difficult times using the University’s resources.
