CHINESE BRIDGE CLUB IN VANCOUVER 温哥华“汉语桥”俱乐部

Since 2002, more than 100,000 students from over 70 countries have participated in the Chinese Bridge competitions, which has not only greatly stimulated the enthusiasm of students from all countries to learn Chinese, but has also become a platform for students from all over the world to display their Chinese proficiency, understand and learn from each other. It has been hailed as the “Olympics” of Chinese in the field of international language and culture education.

In order to further strengthen the connection with the previous Chinese Bridge contestants and enhance the exchange between the contestants, the headquarter of the Hanban/Confucius Institute established the Chinese Bridge Club in October 2011. The Chinese Bridge Club aims to be an important platform for foreign friends who love Chinese language and culture to communicate with each other, while helping to improve their Chinese language level and deepen their understanding of Chinese culture as well as to provide support and assistance for them to better study, work and live in China.

自2002年以来，先后有70多个国家超过10万名青年学生参加了“汉语桥”比赛，“汉语桥”比赛不仅大大激发了各国学生学习汉语的热情，而且已经成为了各国青年学生展示汉语水平，相互了解、相互学习的跨文化交流平台，被誉为国际语言文化教育领域的汉语“奥林匹克”。

为了进一步密切与往届“汉语桥”比赛选手的联系，加强选手间的相互交流，国家汉办/孔子学院总部于2011年10月成立了“汉语桥”俱乐部。“汉语桥”俱乐部力求成为热爱汉语和中国文化的外国朋友相互交流的重要平台，同时帮助提高其汉语水平和加深对中国文化的理解，为其更好地在华学习、工作和生活提供支持与帮助。

Chinese Bridge Club in Vancouver was officially unveiled on October 15th, 2020 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Canada. The opening ceremony of the Chinese Bridge Club in Vancouver was successfully held via live online broadcast.

Ms. Tong Xiaoling, Consul General of the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Vancouver, expressed her congratulations on the official establishment of the Chinese Bridge Club in Vancouver as well as her appreciation to University Canada West (UCW) for its efforts and contributions during the COVID-19 outbreak. She also remarked: The original intention of the Chinese Bridge Club is to build an important platform for friends from all countries who love Chinese and Chinese culture to communicate with each other, to help them improve their Chinese, deepen their understanding of Chinese culture, and provide them with support and assistance. Chinese Bridge Club in Vancouver will open a new window for the Chinese and Canadians to enhance understanding and overcome their differences, and truly become a bridge of cultural exchanges, a bridge of spiritual communication and a bridge of friendship and cooperation.

2020年10月15日，正值中国和加拿大建交50周年之际，温哥华“汉语桥”俱乐部揭牌仪式通过线上直播的方式顺利举办。

佟晓玲代表中国驻温哥华总领馆向俱乐部挂牌运营表示祝贺，并向疫情期间为此作出努力和贡献的加西大学表达赞赏。她表示，建立 “汉语桥”俱乐部的初衷是力求为热爱中文和中华文化的各国友人相互交流搭建重要平台，帮助他们提高中文水平、加深对中华文化的理解，为他们提供支持和帮助。

相信温哥华“汉语桥”俱乐部能为中加两国人民增进了解、消除分歧打开一扇新的窗户，真正成为一座文化交流之桥、心灵沟通之桥、友谊合作之桥。
