Starting next term, some students in UCW’s University Access Program (UAP) will also be able to take an academic course that will count toward their degree.
“This change means some UAP students can start their UCW degree programs sooner and begin gaining the critical business and tech skills needed by Canadian employers,” said UCW President Brock Dykeman.
MBA and MBA Foundation students with sufficient IELTS scores in University Access Course (UAC) 030 and undergraduate students in UAC 030 can take a single quantitative course at the same time as their preparatory course.
MBA and MBA Foundation students must have IELTS 6.5 overall with 5.5 in writing band to be eligible for the academic course. All undergrad students in UAC 030 are eligible.
Previously, UAP students were not able to combine both preparatory and academic courses. They were required to successfully complete UAC 030, UCW’s advanced Academic English course, before enrolling in degree program courses.
Eligible MBA students can take ACCT 621, eligible MBA Foundation students can take MBAF 502 and undergraduate students can take MATH 101.
To help the UAP students succeed in their academic courses, UCW will be providing math tutors for additional support.
