University Canada West Assistant Professor Dr. Mokhtar Tabari will be honoured as an ACBSP Teaching Excellence Award regional recipient.
Dr. Tabari, an Assistant Professor, MBA Department of Quantitative Studies, has been selected as a regional Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Award Recipient and will receive the honour at the ACBSP Conference 2023 in Chicago, IL, June 29-July 2.
Dr. Tabari says he is “honoured and humbled” to receive the award and thanked his colleagues, friends and family for their support and encouragement.
“To me, teaching excellence means going above and beyond to support my students in an inclusive and respectful environment,” Dr. Tabari says. “It also means using innovative teaching strategies to improve engagement, critical thinking and collaboration among my students.”
Dr. Tabari first joined UCW as a sessional faculty member in 2020. Prior to UCW, Dr. Tabari had a post-doctoral position at UBC Sauder School of Business, received his PhD in economics from the University of Calgary, a Master of Science in economics from the Institute for Management and Planning Studies and a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Iran University of Science and Technology.
His research expertise encompasses international trade, energy and environmental economics, and productivity growth. He puts a strong emphasis on utilizing data and empirical evidence to shape policy recommendations. Dr. Tabari’s research findings have been published in prestigious journals and presented at major conferences.

Founded in 1988, the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) is a global business education accrediting body and the first organization to offer accreditation to all levels of collegiate business educational degree programs from associate to doctoral. UCW’s Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Commerce degree programs are accredited by the ACBSP.
