Thanks to the 2023 Festival of Trees, it’s beginning to look like Christmas. UCW rang in the holiday season as a Gold Sponsor of the annual tradition in support of BC Children’s Hospital.
Six students and a staff member decorated UCW’s dazzling red and gold tree at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Each participating organization comes up with their own theme for their Christmas tree, demonstrating their unique creativity.
“In the spirit of collaboration to address common issues, achieve shared goals and enhance the well-being of the community, UCW proudly participated as a Gold Sponsor in the 2023 Festival of Trees,” said UCW’s Community Engagement Specialist Olawumi Ojewale.
“All funds raised from Festival of Trees will ensure researchers at BC Children’s Hospital can continue to make strides in developing the most innovative cancer treatments, making a profound impact on the lives of children in BC and around the world – today and for generations to come.”
For over 30 years, the Festival of Trees has supported the BC Children’s Hospital with its stunning Christmas trees. The event raises awareness about the challenges faced by children with cancer, showcasing their stories and those who have benefited from the hospital’s research initiatives.
According to the hospital, 80% of kids in BC overcome their disease, but this means 20% won’t survive long term. By raising awareness and funds through the Festival of Trees, pediatric care and research experts can continue to find a cure.
For those wanting to learn more about BC Children’s Hospital and vote on their favourite Christmas tree, can do so at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver from November 22, 2023, until January 2, 2024.
