University Canada West’s highly anticipated annual talent show, UCW Has Talent, returned on Thursday, November 28 at the Vogue Theatre in downtown Vancouver for an evening filled with special performances from the UCW Community.

The 2024 event was a special occasion, marking the University’s 20th anniversary.

The evening featured 20 dynamic performances, showcasing a rich variety of skills, including singing, dancing, guitar performances and a captivating martial arts display.

UCW student Diana Torres’ performance of Loren Allred’s “Never Enough” from The Greatest Showman captivated the audience. Her powerful voice and emotional performance earned her first place.

Roshan Hegde who performed a contemporary dance mix placed second place and singing duo Nitya & Tanvi secured third place.

The judging panel included Ed Bagg, UCW Vice-President, Operations and IT Services, Henrique Gea, UCW Registrar, Herneet Dhillon, UCW Vice-President, People and Culture (HR), and Craig Nielsen, Community Development Manager – Vancouver, Canadian Blood Services.

Stanley the Otter, UCW’s new mascot, also made an appearance at the event, welcoming guests and posing for photos.

UCW Has Talent not only showcased the exceptional talent within the University but also served as a testament to UCW’s growth and achievements over the past two decades. The anniversary celebration was a reminder of the University’s commitment to fostering a supportive and creative environment for its community.

As UCW looks ahead to the next 20 years, the talent and passion demonstrated at the event were a reflection of the dynamic future that lies ahead.
