University Canada West, in partnership with the Vancouver Canucks Alumni Foundation (VCAF), has introduced two new grants, providing full tuition to the hockey community.
The Gino Odjick Grant and the Vancouver Canucks Alumni Foundation Grant reflect the shared commitment of UCW and VCAF to fostering education and community leadership.
Named in honour of the late Canucks legend, the Gino Odjick Grant offers full tuition to a hockey player in an organized hockey league, with preference given to individuals with Indigenous status as defined by the Government of Canada. This grant covers the full tuition amount of up to $40,600.
The Vancouver Canucks Alumni Foundation Grant also offers full tuition coverage up to $40,600 and is for eligible members of the Vancouver Canucks Alumni Association or a relative of a member.
These grants are available for students enrolled in the Associate of Arts, Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Arts in Business Communication or Master of Business Administration programs at UCW.
This partnership is bridging gaps in access to education, celebrating Indigenous heritage and creating pathways for long-term achievement both on and off the field.
“At University Canada West, we are passionate about creating opportunities that transform lives through education. Partnering with the Vancouver Canucks Alumni Foundation to offer these grants reflects our commitment to fostering the next generation of leaders through community engagement and access to higher education,” said Dr. Bashir Makhoul, UCW President and Vice-Chancellor.
Applications for these new grants are now being accepted for the Fall 2025 Term.
