University Canada West’s Academic Affairs Department this week launched new ways for students to meet with an Academic Advisor.
Students can choose from one of three meeting options, depending on their needs.
Advisor Flash Meetup
Advisor Flash Meetups are for quick questions and quick answers. These 10-minute sessions are held Monday through Thursday from 10 am until 11:30 am PST.
Virtual Advising Drop-in
The Virtual Advising sessions are for questions that take a bit more time to answer.
These sessions are available Monday through Thursday from 2 pm until 3:30 pm PST and can run up to 20 minutes in length.
Students can join the Advisor Flash Meetup or the Virtual Advising Drop-in sessions by clicking the appropriate Microsoft Teams link on the Virtual Academic Advising page in the MyUCW Student Portal.
Participants may have to wait in the virtual lobby if another advising session is in progress.
Please note: The Advisor Flash Meetup or Virtual Advising Drop-in window will close if the session reaches capacity.
Virtual Advising Appointment
Students who have more complex questions and require more time with a UCW Academic Advisor can book an appointment.
During a Virtual Advising Appointment, an Academic Advisor will be able to discuss course planning, degree requirements, focus areas and other topics for up to 30 minutes per appointment.
Students can book an appointment by sending an email to [email protected]. An Academic Advisor will set up a meeting and send out a meeting link.
For more information about meeting with a UCW Academic Advisor, check out the Virtual Academic Advising page in the MyUCW Student Portal, which is under the Academic Advising tab in the left-side menu.
