Team UCW is travelling to the 2023 MBA Games, which will be held Jan. 6 to 8 at York University in Toronto.
UCW placed second at the 2022 BC MBA Games held October 28 to 30 at the University of British Columbia and is travelling to Toronto for the national MBA Games, hosted by York’s Schulich School of Business.
The MBA Games is the largest MBA competition in Canada. It was first held at Queen’s University in 1988. The winning school of the overall competition is given the honour of hosting the MBA Games the following year in their home city.
The games take place over three days as graduate-level business students from across Canada compete in academic, athletic and spirit events.
Led by head coaches Urvish Subodh, UCW faculty, and Seth Li, Associate Director of Strategic Partnerships and Projects with Global University System Canada, the 16 members of the UCW team has been training tirelessly for several months with early morning practices and late-night sessions to prepare for the Case, Spirit and Sport competitions.
As part of the Spirit portion of the competition, the team is raising funds for Future Possibilities for Kids, a non-profit organization that coaches children to believe in themselves and lead community change. To make a donation, visit the MBA Games Interschool Fundraising Charity Challenge page.
Last year at the BC MBA Games, the UCW team finished second in the case competition and was the overall winner in the spirit portion of the event. The sports team won the volleyball round, going undefeated in four games, took second place in table tennis and came in third in dodgeball.
