In light of the continuing surge in COVID-19 cases in British Columbia, University Canada West’s Senior Leadership Team made the decision this week to keep all classes online for the remainder of the Fall 2020 Term.
“We have voluntarily made this decision as we believe it is in the best interest of our students, staff and faculty,” said UCW President Brock Dykeman.
UCW initially moved classes online Nov. 9 for two weeks after British Columbia’s Public Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry issued a Public Health Order banning social gatherings with people not a part of one’s household, indoor group physical activities and sports where physical distancing cannot be maintained.
While the order does not require UCW to move classes online or close its campuses, the UCW Senior Leadership Team voluntarily made the decision to help stem the spread of COVID-19.
“We believe this measure will help us flatten the curve,” Dykeman said. “We want to do our part so classes can resume on campus for the Winter 2021 Term.”
Both the West Pender and Vancouver House campuses will remain closed; however, all services are available online. Students can contact the appropriate departments in the MyUCW Student Portal.
